About Batopedia

A field guide built around source transparency.

Batopedia is a non-commercial educational project that exists to make bats easier to understand and conservation easier to act on.

Source hierarchy

Taxonomic databases, formal conservation assessments, government science agencies, museums, peer-reviewed research, and established conservation organizations.

Dates matter

Species records show the source release or assessment date so visitors can see how current a claim is.

Images require provenance

Every identification image needs a creator, source, license, and modification note. Missing verification means a neutral placeholder.

Corrections stay visible

Material changes should be logged, reviewed, and traceable rather than silently rewritten.
